Hello from Chattanooga - it's good to be back!

It is time to start planning the Fall regatta season already and we look forward to hosting you again this year, October 11, 2008!

With my return to Chattanooga, I will be taking over the reins of the Chattanooga Head Race once again.  I would like to extend a special thanks and congratulations to Doug BeVille who has masterfully transitioned the head race back to the new Chattanooga Waterfront over the last three years.  Fortunately, Doug will not become a stranger to rowing as he will ratchet up his involvement with the Head of the Hooch, helping it continue to grow as one of the premier rowing regattas in the country.  I'm sure Doug will be very visible during the Chattanooga Head Race and I encourage all of you to take the time to thank him for his tireless efforts over the last three years!

Our registration will open September 1, 2008 and concludes at midnight October 3, 2008 at www.regattacentral.com

An unfortunate change for 2008 will be the removal of our registration fee cap.  Due to the higher cost of operations, it was necessary to make this difficult decision in order to maintain the high standards of safety and amenities you have grown to expect from our regatta.  Individual entry fees will remain the same for 2008.

As a result of the increased buoy coverage on the course the penalty for missing a buoy has been reduced to 10 seconds per occurrence.

Greenlife will once again be sponsoring the Friday Night Pasta Party - free to all participants - details to follow - please sign up with Regatta Central.

Lookout Rowing Club looks forward to hosting you in our city and I look forward to catching up with many of you again.

We are located at Ross' Landing in downtown Chattanooga.  Our race offers many advantages not normally found in the Head Race format including:

Trailer parking near launch docks
Huge bleachers section at finish line for spectators
Downtown location
Great race schedule that allows:
high school teams to finish the SAT and even compete after lunch
college crews and others to race more than one race.

For many, this first race of the year allows for crews to become familiar with Head Racing in a safe, friendly environment.  We also are the ideal place for your parents and supporters to observe your efforts from the actual site, the RiverWalk, or even the Walnut Street pedestrian bridge that goes over the course!  Spectators and rowers alike may want to take some time to visit the TN Aquarium adjacent to our site, or many of the downtown attractions.

We look forward to having you in our City!

Make your plans to attend!
